On June 21, GPS III® Platelet Concentration System produced by global orthopedic professional brand Zimmer Biomet completed the first treatment in the General Hospital of Hainan Lecheng Medical Tourism Pilot Zone of mainland China. The operation was performed by Professor Lin Jianping, director of the orthopedic medical center.

GPS III, the original product of Zimmer Biomet, has been approved by the United States, the European Union, and Japan. It is commonly used to treat sports injuries, especially for athletes with acute injuries. According to Professor Lin, GPS III is a minimally invasive operation, which can achieve rapid cure and recovery with fast and convenient treatment procedures.

The GPS III treatment in Hainan is for a trackman who is about to compete. Due to severe tendon damages, the athlete has to resort to effective treatment in a short time to continue training. Therefore, the GPS III products have been unanimously recommended by overseas experts. As the product has not yet been listed in China’s mainland, the athlete has come to Boao Lecheng, the only “special medical zone” in China, to seek innovative and leading professional solutions for pain relief and rapid recovery.

With the concerted efforts of local departments and the Lecheng District of Hainan General Hospital, GPS III products were approved by multiple departments in only one day. It was authorized to be used in Lecheng for the first time in mainland China, which vividly embodies the further deepening of Lecheng’s minimalist approval.

The operation was successfully performed in the Lecheng District of Hainan General Hospital. After the hospital set its branch in Lecheng, it constantly updated the successful cases using the “first try” policy of the pilot zone. In the future, Boao research hospital will be built into a national real-world clinical data research center, a national innovation medical center, and a national medical research center for new technology, genuinely benefit patients and society.
